Dan Ford, NZPsB, is a licensed psychologist and founder of The Better Sleep Clinic, where he also holds the position of clinical director.

Dan graduated summa cum laude from the University Of Auckland and earned his postgraduate qualification in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with distinction from Massey University. He holds a practicing certificate in sleep psychology from the Australian Psychological Society, has specialist training in CBT for Insomnia (CBTi ) and has qualified in Eye Movement Desensitization And Reprocessing therapy through the EMDR Association of Australia.

Dan Ford is passionate about sleep, and healthy living more generally He has provided expert comment on sleep and psychology related topics for a range of national and international media. Dan has contributed to print and online media, including Forbes, Huffington Post, Psychology Today, Psych Central, Google, Myfitnesspal, Fitbit, Eat This, SHEfinds, Sleep.com, Sleepopolis, Nurse Journal, The Daily Telegraph, and more. He has made TV appearances on NZ’s most popular news shows One News and Seven Sharp, and radio stations Today FM, bFM and Mai FM. He has provided expert clinical review of content for Health Navigator, NZ’s largest health information website, and has been a speaker at medical training conferences for family medicine doctors/ general practitioners.

Dan has had careers in the corporate sector & the military. He is an Army veteran and served in uniform as a military psychologist for 10 years. During that time, in addition to postings to Army and Air, Dan held the position of Head Of Psychology for the Royal New Zealand Navy, and served as the Cognitive Performance Psychologist for the elite special operations force the NZSAS.

Dan has a longstanding interest in human performance and has served as the performance psychologist to the NZ Men’s Olympic Endurance Cycling Team (most successful performance in 10 years). He has also served as performance psychologist to professional sports teams in Rugby Union (Blues Super Franchise, best season in 17 years) and netball (Northern Mystics, best season 14 years + first ever championship title).

When not out running with an audiobook playing, Dan can be found hanging out with his family, mountain biking, or pretending to be a handyman.
