Better Sleep: It's Not Just About Insomnia & Sleep Apnoea
Our vision for the Sleep Centre is to provide a place for accurate sleep health information and advice, backed by the latest medical science and clinical experience.
The Sleep Centre is our acknowledgement that over the past few years there has been a big increase in public awareness around the importance of sleep in physical and mental health. The New Zealand public is slowly becoming more aware of common sleep disorders such as;
Obstructive sleep apnoea (sleep apnea);
However much of the information available online is written by people with limited experience in sleep medicine, sleep disorders treatment & mental health treatment.
Without first hand knowledge and experience of sleep assessment, tests, diagnosis, treatment & support, online advice and information can range from inaccurate one size fits all myths through to straight up harmful.
We aim to give specialist sleep provider / practitioner level knowledge on sleep health topics for both patients and the general NZ public.
The articles information may at times be broad. This is because, while our Auckland sleep clinic treats insomnia & other behavioral conditions, sleep medicine is a multi-disciplinary field and there are a broad range of sleep syndromes, from snoring & conditions that affect your airway and ability to breathe at night, through to health conditions such as chronic fatigue that can impact on whether you feel you slept well.
Lifestyle factors and occupational factors also impact on sleep symptoms. We aim to be comprehensive so over time there'll be articles on questionnaires, sleep tests, therapy ranging from behavioural therapies to cpap, sleep laboratory options, various diseases, physical and mental health conditions that disrupt sleep and sleep-related quality of life.
The Sleep Education Centre is also a hub of knowledge with articles, facts, and information on the importance of sleep. Our team works towards educating clients and the public about how to live better, healthier lives through quality sleep. From articles to videos, we provide you with all the information you need to be your best self.
